The University of Arizona Department of Emergency Medicine, in partnership with the Department of Medicine, Section of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy and Sleep, offers a two-year critical care fellowship program preparing fellows for the IM-CCM board examination.. With the completion of EMD 197, students will have attained the required training hours to test for certification as an EMT through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMTs).The Advanced Emergency Medical Services course will cover the basics of EMS systems for University EMS service members and the general student body.

The program provides these paramedics with additional training in EMS clinical core content areas (critical care, community paramedicine, special operations, etc), basic sciences (physiology, chemistry, biology, etc), leadership, health care systems, and communications. Creighton University’s Critical Care Paramedic course will prepare you to deliver outstanding advanced critical care when moving patients from one health care facility to another via ground or air ambulance or when responding directly to the scene of a medical or trauma event.

Paramedics receive 48 hour ALS Refresher that meets DHS and NREMT requirements for re-certification. Students will work with their EMS agency to identify a project, submit the project to course instructors, revise the project based on instructor feedback, complete the project and submit a final summary or the project to course instructors. EMD 410 - EMS Critical Care The EMS Critical Care course will prepare you to deliver advanced critical care in the out-of-hospital setting, including the interfacility transfer of critically ill patients, as well as response to scene calls for critically ill or injured patients. With the completion of EMD 197, students will have attained the required training hours to test for certification as an EMT through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMTs).This course will provide an in-depth review of EMT and Paramedic clinical knowledge and will allow students to recertify as an EMT, AEMT, or paramedic in the State of Arizona or using the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) recertification process.
