It was the first screen adaptation of the 1891 children's book Captain January by Laura E. Richards. I loved the author's humorous, imaginative poetry, but never encountered her prose. The writer is the daughter of Julia Ward Howe, composer of our famous “ Battle Hymn of the Republic.”This was super sweet.
