It was not a great movie by any means but I am a big film fan and this movie was memorable for me. On Nov. 19, 1969, Columbia premiered a comedic, yet dark, look at Hollywood with Dick Van Dyke starring as a silent movie star in The Comic.
The last scene of Van Dyke's character getting up in early morning hours just to watch one of his old films with his ex-wife always stuck with me.

Jeannine Riley and Nina Wayne as seductresses give good accounts of themselves, while Barbara Heller, Ed Peck, Gavin MacLeod, Jay Novella, Craig Huebing, Paulene Myers, Fritz Feld and Isabell Sanford round out the fine cast. I highly recommend this to anyone who is a silent movie fan or a Dick Van Dyke fan.Looking for some great streaming picks?
